According to Kotaku, OXM UK stated in their rumors section that 343 has begun working on a Halo 2 remake. Requests for confirmation from Microsoft were met with a statement that they “do not comment on rumors or speculation”.
A Halo 2 remake would be sweet, especially if they can get co-op over LIVE working right. But what would be really sweet is if the decision is made to keep the graphics exactly as the original, only updating the look by giving it the incredible detail that is available today. That would be a thing of beauty.
Next up could be Halo 3, again keeping the visuals and only updating the details. I would buy Halo 3 again at full price if the graphics were updated and multiplayer was available. In fact, I would purchase a new map pack every two to three months. Indefinitely.
There is a lot of unrest in the Halo community over Halo: REACH and Halo 4, in how it’s mutated from what fans really know as being Halo. I can’t help but wonder if Halo 3 would be well populated if the game mechanics were kept just as they are and only the graphics were greatly updated.
Of course we would practically demand that the Grunts and Jackals looked and sounded how we prefer, which is exactly how they’ve always looked – – only updated in detail.
If Halo 3 we re-created in this way, would you buy it all over again?
