The news that disgusted and shocked many gamers, that the new Xbox coming out later this year would not work unless it was connected to the internet, was false. A leak reported by Game Spot has details in a memo sent to all full-time staffers working on the project.
“There are a number of scenarios that our users expect to work without an Internet connection, and those should ‘just work’ regardless of their current connection status,” it goes on. “Those include, but are not limited to: playing a Blu-ray disc, watching live TV, and yes playing a single-player game.”
There is a function or are functions of the new Xbox that will require a connection, and details are still being kept dark for now, although it does appear that they are not referring to online game play or streaming movies, as that would be no secret.
