It’s not Halo, but damn it’s cool! Underwater Hotel

The Water Discus is an engineering marvel created by Polish and Swiss architects that is designed to be the world’s largest underwater hotel – – and it’s mobile!

The underwater section sits 30 feet underwater and will feature stunning views of thriving ocean life from each of the 21 hotel rooms and a bar. Guests can explore the surrounding area from a diving room complete with training in the diving pool or via remote control vehicles, allowing users to inspect sea life down to the microscopic utilizing digital magnification. There are even plans for underwater tourist vehicles, which have been built into the infrastructure of the Water Discus.

The discs of the structure that will sit above the water are designed to be buoyant and detachable from the main structure in case of natural disaster, and because the hotel will also serve as an environmentally conscious research center, the entire structure can be moved in case of environmental concerns.

Dubai, home of the world’s largest building, the world’s largest mall and soon to be the world’s largest Ferris wheel, is home of the first serious customers of Deep Ocean Technology’s creation. This Water Discus is designed to be placed anywhere in the world, and can serve as a single entity or one of several.

The center structure houses a lift and stairs, to access the lower, underwater level. This underwater structure, as can be seen in the video below, is designed to ride up the center post and out of the water in the case of an emergency.

Take a look at what underwater life will look like in a Discus Hotel.

To date, the largest underwater hotel only consists of two rooms. If Dubai gets theirs up first, they will also be home of the largest underwater hotel.
