“What the heck is it, Eggar?!?” What you are looking at is only about two centimeters wide, and was created by a simple, unknown living organism. Study the complexity and uniform-ness of it’s creation.

Scientists at this point are baffled by the find, and uncertain if it is an egg sac, the start to some sort of cocoon, or even a type of fungi.

It’s easy to see the perimeter as a barricade surrounding an egg sac spire, discouraging potential predators from ever making it to the treasure within, the growing developing things that will hatch out it. Some scientists speculate the discovery stumbles upon a new organism, although it’s quite possible it will turn out to be a known creature we’ve never before seen incubating.

Incubating… definitely turns thoughts to aliens. Aliens that could consciously, artfully create a barrier from their own body fluids to protect their young from discovery…

Just another tiny example of how sometimes reality mimics fiction, mimics reality, mimics fiction. Doesn’t it seem like more and more, little things are being discovered that fall outside of the norm? I mean, we already knew about a lot of crazy deep-sea creatures, and oddities like platypus, but what we think we know about the known universe is most definitely NOT in a stagnant, or even stable, state and today new discoveries and understandings are being made at an almost phenomenal rate.

Think awesome special effects and creative creatures in video games and movies are awesome? Love the feeling you get when you are awed by the possibilities of complex aliens and plant forms from other planets in these entertainments of fantasy? Sometimes all we have to do is look to our own planet, our own reality, to find an infinite expanse of crazy complexity, uniqueness and surprise.

Strange that such a tiny thing could spark such a mental journey of creativity and wonder. What do you think about when you see this Peruvian Mystery?
