Halo 4 meets L4D 2 in Flood Mode – is it rumor?

Posted by CHa0s:

According to examiner.com, a French Halo fansite, HaloDestiny.com, has posted images from Official Xbox Magazine in a story that details a new gametype for Halo 4.

A quote from the examiner article (link above) that I assume was translated from HaloDestiny:

But first, the most important thing is the new Infection gametype in Halo 4, now called “Flood”. Yeah, you read right. Why this gametype is wearing this name ? Because infected players will play as a flood combat form during those games ! As you can see in these images below, Floods are back in a all new different form, especially made for the multiplayer. 10 players, 8 as survivors, 2 as Alpha Zombies. Infected players have deadly claws for melee damage and enhanced vision, but actualy, we don’t know if they will play as a flood, like the previous Halo Campaigns (in terme of mouvement, speed and jump). That was the big thing.

The examiner article goes on to explain that matches will be played with eight people as survivors, two as Alpha Zombies.

The only image I could find is somewhat fuzzy, but is supposedly an image of Halo 4 Infected:

Yeah, they look infected by something.

The Halo Council seems to have tracked down some additional information, which can be seen in the following video.

At this time, I am hesitant to report this as news, as I could not find this information at any of the legit websites I trust for the Halo news that you will find here at Halo Diehards, so be warned. However, it’s looking like this is highly probable and that my least liked gametype (Infection) might prove to be something that finds me spending a bit of time at it.

What’s really cool and impressive to me is how 343 doesn’t seem to be pulling any punches in creating this game. I mean… wow! I had a lot of fun playing Left For Dead and killing my friends as a zombie, especially when you can hear them in proximity chat – – this is going to rock!

Some of the discussions going on in other forums include supposition as to whether or not we’ll be able to leap and move with the swiftness of the flood from previous Halo campaigns. I even came across one irate fan who was practically foaming in flood-like rage himself at being told he wasn’t going to be able to play as an Elite, because it didn’t fit in with the canon, but then he finds out we’re going to be playing as Flood. It seems as if this will all occur in training and won’t be actual “battles”, as far as the story line goes. But again, at this point it’s all hearsay, so I’ll keep my ear to the ‘net and report information as I find it.
