Halo 4: Armor Abilities Guide

Halo 4 is set to offer a major overhaul over the existing multiplayer modes of Halo Reach and its predecessors, and we’re not using the word “overhaul” lightly.

With the addition of new armor abilities, tactical packages, support upgrades and even armor customization—all in addition to its new cooperative gameplay mode, Spartan Ops—Halo 4 is set to deliver what may be the most compelling multiplayer experiences the Xbox 360 has to offer.

In this article, you can find out about Halo 4’s armor abilities, which are possible thanks to the Mjolnir GEN2 Powered Assault Armor’s modularity. This allows the suit’s wearers to add physical hardware to their armor, dramatically modifying their combat faculty and performance. The technology even allows users to integrate non-native technology (read: Forerunner and Covenant tech) into the suit.

Thruster Pack

The M805X Thruster Pack is described as a movement acceleration system that allows its wearers to move aggressively in combat, closing the gap between the wearer and its targets or finding cover at a second’s notice.

Hardlight Shield

The Z-90 Hardlight Shield is of Forerunner design, and allows user to emit photons that fuse particles of light into a rigid, dissipative barrier, which effectively blocks bullets from hitting the wearer. The shield functions as a full sized aegis for Spartans who equip it.

Promethean Vision

Promethean Vision is another piece of technology of Forerunner origin that allows its users to separate enemies from the environment, rendering camouflage all but obsolete. This short-range vision enhancement enables the detection of shapes and movement through solid barriers.

Hologram

The T-27 Decoy, referred to as a “Hologram” sets up a personal decoy of its wearer, giving enemies an additional target to fire at, and a chance for its wearer to flank them. The Hologram was originally used by the Covenant, and has since been adapted for Mjolnir armor systems.
