Do you remember the first time you saw the 3D illusion trick with your own eyes? When I was a kid, I saw this poster that claimed to be 3D if you looked at it right. People were standing there looking at it, and every once in awhile one of them would exclaim, “I see it! Wow!! Yeah, it’s a boat!”.
I thought they were lying.
Cut to several years later and I’m over at a friends house, bored. Glancing at the coffee table, I see a book of 3D illusions and I pick it up, determined once and for all to see what the heck the fuss is about.
When the picture finally came into focus, I was more than amazed: I was delighted. Never had I imagined that what I was seeing would occur using my own eyes.
So when I saw the Mace Windex’s Halo 3D images for the first time, I thought they were the shiznit. Take two of my favorite things, 3D images and Halo, put them together and it’s magic eyes that kick ass.
Mace parties up with us occasionally, and never did I imagine I would see some of us from one of the games in the 3D images, but I gotta say it’s pretty darn neat! Thanks, Mace!
If you’ve never seen a 3D image “pop” before, there are a couple of tricks you can try. Try putting your face approximately 1 1/2 feet away from your monitor and crossing your eyes, then focus in on the middle image (there should be three). I used to view them by looking “past” them. Look at something a few feet further away from your monitor, then holding that focus attempt to bring the images into your field of vision.
It’s tricky, but once you pull it off it’s well worth it! Seriously, the following Spartans look like action figures popping right out of my monitor.
