He has a 360, but rarely has time to play. However, he’s more of a fan of racing games and not so much shooters.
I tried to convince him to keep it and I could buy one and we’d both be set. He didn’t go for it and said he doesn’t get to game much.
I’ll have to figure out some way to get him back! :durhurr:

I like using callouts that even randoms will comprehend, and friends that party up who won’t play with us often enough to pick up the more obscure callouts. You know, more self-explanatory. It’s amazing how many people I’ve logged hours and hours with still don’t know a shit-ton of the callouts that are used often. It’s unfortunate, but I think a…[Read more]

Omg! So glad he clarified that red base has red pipes and blue base has yellow. I never realized it and never knew which base I respawned in after initial spawn. Something he didn’t mention is red attic has blue colored lights and blue attic has red lights. Thanks for posting the vid!

HazarD is going to be competing in a variety of leagues this coming year, and I’m designing their jerseys. They showed me a purple and white version w/ tiger-like stripes and wanted it in their colors, so this is the prototype I’m working on. (He Tweeted it, so it’s public, I can now show it, lol)

Yeah, I’ve grown accustomed to the idea of keeping it – obviously since I’ve started playing it now…lol
I mean, it’s just I’ve never had somebody do such a random act of kindness for me. I know it’s not really random, but still it was a large investment on his part – especially considering he still needs stuff for his home like furniture and…[Read more]

Halo: The Master Chief Collection releases November 11th, 2014. In a few measly months, gamers will have the chance to see what Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2 and Halo 3 was meant to look like by the artists who worked hard to create the visuals, since the original Xbox and Xbox 360 were not equipped to fully display the code that was written for them.
The Master Chief Collection will be released on the Xbox One only, and the buzz is getting louder in the diehard Halo community as people remember what it was like to compete in and watch tourneys of truly well-balanced, competitive shooters.
Leagues are being set up across the globe in anticipation, requiring vast amounts of man hours and resources to accomplish, in order to give the people what they have been craving for so many years: The active return of Halo to eSports.
Recently, I was approached by team HazarD, who was interested in having me design their logo. Being pleased with the work I was doing on their logo, they next asked me to create their jerseys. I’ve been wanting to take a crack at eSports jerseys, feeling the desire to create quality, unique jerseys for competitive teams, and I was eager to prove my talent.
The HazarD jersey design is in progress and not ready to share, but Halo Diehards is proud to have become a sponsor for HazarD, and it was time to do some research, see what’s happening and coming up in competitive Halo.
What I’ve learned this morning is quite disconcerting.
There are already cracks in the game plan that mars the perfection that could be with the rebirth of competitive Halo. Apparently, according to Scott Lussier (Gandhi, one of the National Champions for Halo 2), the Xbox One was not designed to be conducive for a successful large LAN environment, as is necessary to run a large eSports league.
Loading an account onto the Xbox One is not a simple process, and there is a limit to the number of accounts that it will allow to be loaded onto it, putting an even greater strain on the inspirational leaders in the competitive community that are trying to provide this long-awaited arena for teams and fans.
Listen as Ghandhi explains the situation in this video announcing the UGC Halo 2 10K Tournament set for January of 2015.
It’s really hard to imagine that the people responsible for creating the Xbone didn’t have the foresight to make sure the machine was fit for large LAN leagues. At $500 a pop, and with eSports being the craze that it is, the Xbox One should be well-equipped to run competitive events. The fact that this may not be so is actually quite astonishing.
To add to that I learned something a couple of days ago that lessens the value of the Kinect.
I haven’t purchased my own Xbox One yet, haven’t decided for sure that I will. I may make the move to the PC or make a drastic cut in gaming completely and pick up some new hobbies, staying with the Xbox 360. But if I do go with the Xbox One, one of the only reasons I’d want a Kinect is for the capture and stream ability, even though I already have a capture card. But what I learned, is that the capture and stream abilities of the Xbone do not include game chat.
Really? How many streamers, especially of the competitive variety, do you know that stream without game chat? Makes you kind of scratch your head at the game devs.
After years of laying in wait, the competitive Halo community finally sees some light at the end of the tunnel and will push forward, regardless of the obstacles the Xbox One places before it. I for one am interested to see where it all goes.
Will competitive Halo become the rage it once was? Will developers finally realize that this is a direction that’s worth their while and make games that support the playstyle? Time will tell. In the meantime, why not check out and follow the progress on UGC and other competitive Halo events that can be found across the ‘net.
Me? I’ve got some jerseys and logos to make!

Looks like CoD: Ghosts came out without the option to even play via LAN. The CoD LAN support patches that and centered around fixes for bugs that affected custom games, as well as patches to allow users to alter gametypes to better suit eSports, ie: allowing for restriction of certain weapons and game time limits. https://community.callofduty.com/thread/200809776
As far as the Kinect, I think I was misinformed that you can’t stream without it, I guess you can still set it up in the Xbox One dashboard, but as of yet it does not stream your teammates’ voice chat, as a capture card will if your settings allow them to come through speaker and headset.
-
Great info CHa0s! I hope Microsoft chooses to value the competitive gaming community and apply their intelligence to fixing this massive blunder in the XB1’s ability to stay in-tune with the desires of gamers. The return of true MLG competitions for Halo would be truly awesome! And as Gandi said, these would revolve around H2 and H3…no one even considered H4 (the bastard step child twice removed).
-
I think somewhere in the darkened basement offices of 343, in the very beginning of the MCC decision making process, they were saying to themselves that they would give the Halo community exactly what they asked for – i.e. equal starts H2 type multiplayer, then sit back and watch what happens. Be careful what you ask for, they said…
After having their baby (H4) being trashed for so long, I think 343 knew something most of us didn’t about what it takes to be a successful game developer. How long will it be before the Waypoint throngs beg for Infinity settings in H2 MM?
Bungie, the creator of competitive FPS gaming, abandoned the competitive equal start crowd with Destiny. Who’d a guessed?
-
I get your point, Minotaur. We already don’t like to vote for non-Infinity settings in War Games, but that’s often because the vehicles are cardboard and with so many power weapons on the map, you might as well have some power-abilities.
I’m definitely curious to see how even myself will feel once I jump into MCC. I know one thing for sure: I loved H2, I loved H3, REACH had it’s moments, but I hated H4 from the start.
It’s all about balance. I don’t think the competitive crowd would have such a problem with uber-abilities if 343 knew the first thing about balance, and the thirst for team movement in map and weapon control. A ton of people want chaos they can control, not mayhem that no matter how hard they try they’re going to get side-swiped by chance time and again.
Yep, it will be interesting. I can’t wait :D
Edit: PS – Destiny multiplayer kicks Halo 4’s ass on balance, lol
-
The Titan’s ground pounding super smack in Destiny reminds me of Reach’s Armor Lock, but with atomic 1HK power. Opponents don’t see it coming. To them it must appear to be random – a weapon wielded by noobs sitting in dark corners.

On another track, it seems to me a lot of sites are successful that have some sort of “thing” that a large audience is a fan of. This means more people hear about the site, and then more people come to the site. It’s one of the reasons I’ve tried news and videos, but other people are already doing that.
I think I’ve had a major creative block…[Read more]
