Just because there’s a new Rover on Mars doesn’t mean the one that was already roaming around has stopped doing what she do. Rover Opportunity has discovered more “Blueberry”-like geological structures.
Above pic approx 2.4in across irlWhat I find the most interesting about these is that they’re described as being crunchy on the outside, softer on the inside. Opportunity discovered this by using an “Alpha Particle X-Ray Spectrometer” – – how cool is that?
One of the scientists involved in the discovery says, “They are different in concentration. They are different in structure. They are different in composition. They are different in distribution. So, we have a wonderful geological puzzle in front of us.”
