Well, I really enjoyed my time with the Beta and it’s solidified my decision to move on to the XB1. I didn’t get too hung up on the graphics either as I knew, as worm stated, this really should be a “next-gen” game. In all honesty, I’m surprised the 360 and PS3 are even getting the game.
The PvP did get better for me as I found some better weapons and unlocked some goodies, but it was a steep learning curve. I found a sweet Scout Rifle with a nice scope that would go toe-to-toe with all the AR-loving, shotty campers…lol
I still had my fair share of WTF moments, so I’d really like for Bungie to explain how exactly they balance level advantages (in the gametypes where they are turned off). My understanding is that attack and defense ratings are “leveled”, but your unlocks, weapon characteristics and skills still play a factor.
I like the aspect of finding gear and having to decide how I want to build my character – do I want this helmet with a strength bonus, but lower defense or a higher defense with no strength?
I also enjoyed how you could hang out in the public spaces and fight with randoms, then continue on your own with your mission. In fact, I didn’t realize the “Explore” area was the place to go for the random public events and to just free roam the area and do the random quests. This really added more to do and I hate I didn’t discover this until about a hour before the Beta ended. However, interacting with the randoms was a fun experience – especially the random dance parties.
One thing I don’t like is the Ghost, the voice acting by Peter Dinklage is not good. I can’t really put my finger on it, but it’s just feels so “blah” – nothing like what we are used to with Cortana. Also, I know some people do not like the PvP announcer, but he didn’t really bother me – I found him kind of soothing…lol
The music is amazing – another win by Marty and his team. Awesome!
I was also kind of surprise we don’t get to view our medals after the game. I hope that gets added, but it felt strange we couldn’t view them even though stuff pops up on the screen.
The lobby is great. I’m glad to be able to see what my friends are up to (even if they don’t invite me to play :blue: ) and see how much time they have left in a PvP game and the score. See 343 it’s not that hard!
I also enjoy the loading screens – as weird as that sounds – I like watching my ship do it’s thing.
Yeah, I’m a fanboy, and look at things with more of an optimistic view. But I can’t wait for September 9th!
