The game has gotten farther away from its roots with every title released, most of which have kept the basic formula until Reach. With Reach, gone was the level playing field at spawn when everyone was equal. Now, who knows how many possible permutations there are for starting loadouts in 4.

Halo used to be a simple game of guns, grenades and melees which was easy and fun to pick up and play but difficult to master. Part of how the game is played out now is decided in the loadout menu.

I’m of the opinion that people played Halo because it was different from most shooters out there. Now the line between it and other shooters is becoming blurred, as begins to inherit traits of CoD. Why play half a CoD game with ~100k people when you can jump into Blops 2 with over 400k people. Zombies? There’s over 100k people playing Blops 2 zombies daily!

Halo multiplayer is a dying game. A ton of people will buy it at launch, follow the Master Chief story, play a little multiplayer, then move on to a game with multiplayer that’s fun. Bungie started killing the fun with Reach and Microsoft is now killing the fun with fire.

Get back to basics. Make Halo, Halo.
