There is a bug in the Dawnstar quest “Waking Nightmares” courtesy of the latest patch, 1.8 me thinks. Make sure auto saves are turned off and do not to hard save from the time you drink Vaermina’s torpor in Nightcaller Temple, through the end of the quest. Otherwise the game will crash.
