You have certainly come to the right place with that question, sir! We have just the lists for you, in fact, one of them even includes the games.

https://www.halodiehards.net/halo-novels-chronological-order/

Here’s the short list of the chronological order of the novels, but follow the link above for a more detailed explanation:

Halo: Forerunner Trilogy
Halo: Contact Harvest
Halo: The Cole Protocol
Halo: The Fall of Reach
Halo: The Flood
Halo: First Strike
Halo: Ghosts of Onyx
Halo: Evolutions (spans from about a year before covenant war to six years after)

I’m re-reading Halo: Cryptum at the moment, was waiting on Contact Harvest to come in the mail because I haven’t read it yet (it’s here!). By the way, I had to click on your profile to see your avatar, it’s great.

Harvest was one of my favorites. I’m debating on buying the precursor series or evolutions. Any suggestions? And thanks I love it too

Is Evolutions the same as the video shorts? I watched those awhile back, and although I enjoyed a few of them, the differing styles one after the other didn’t sit well with me.

If you are wanting to read the novels in chronological order, I would start with Cryptum. I got my copy used, and it’s in almost new shape. It cost me around $7 including shipping. Same with Primordium. Silentium, however is a bit more, since it’s newer.

Is there Master Chief? No. Do they sort of ruin the mystery of the Forerunners? Yes. But that mystery is already ruined, they’ve already invented the details; it’s a done deal. And really, there are a lot of details, and many of them are quite fascinating and entertaining.

I’m enjoying them a lot more the second time around, and I definitely don’t regret getting into them. Haven’t read Silentium yet, should order it here soon.

That’s just my personal experience. Anybody else out there wanna chime in?

I didn’t even know silentium was out yet. And I have no clue on evolutions I saw where it was a collection of short stories and that kind of put me off. And I’ve always wanted to know more about the Librarian and the Didact. Also have you read Grasslands? I’ve heard a lot of people say it was their favorite

Nope, haven’t read Glasslands, but since it’s at the end of the list and I’m doing them chronologically, I’ll definitely be ordering it as I get towards the end of the list. Didn’t know it was a favorite, so that will be nice to look forward to. I’m looking forward to Contact Harvest, too.

If you haven’t seen the Halo Evolutions videos, you should check them out. I bet they’re even on YouTube. Some of them were really cool, I mean, they surprised me and I was impressed. Some of them were… kinda dumb.

Harvest was great. Lots of action and it explains Johnson perfectly

So what do you think about the Johnson in Master Chief Collection? Because he doesn’t look like Johnson to me at all.
