Hey guys! ive got two videos to share today. These are early and mid August highlights of some of our favourite arena and warzone clips this August.

    The first:

Happy for any feedback or criticism :) enjoy.

I like the clips. I’ve been working on clips for the last couple months, I usually make screen shots. I have about 20 clips started and only 4 or 5 finished. I am all into the “cinematic take”.

      Here’s a couple of mine:
      Assassination clip 1:
      Assassination clip 2:
      Boss Ground Pound:

The last one is a link to my blog post for the clip. It has the clip and some good stills from the same game play. The art and animation in Halo 5 is amazing. Theater is amazing.

I have been practicing camera control in second person for clips, it keeps you within a specific radius but you can rotate around your Spartan and change the field of view. Some of your stuff would look great that way I bet.

      • September 8, 2016 at 2:00 pm

It does look like you’ve been putting in some work on cinematic and 3rd person angles, Dragons. The camera control looks very good. I would keep this in mind, however (Dragons and HaPPy-SplunksCo, too): people start to lose interest after about three seconds of the same thing, no kidding! We should only occasionally go a ways past that before changing the angle of a shot or switching to a new clip. Also, have you considered adding some contrast to your screenshots? I took screenshots from Destiny for awhile, and although I occasionally took liberties and enhanced contrast or color, for the most part I had to increase contrast just to make it look more like the game, since capture cards etc will take a lot of that away.

Here is a link to my Destiny screenshots if you’d like to verify whether or not I have experience in this field ;) I also have montages on Youtube, where you can get an idea of the timing if you wish. Just search Halo Diehards!

Those shots of Oryx are great. Are they cropped and zoomed to get rid of the first person view, or is there a secret way to change perspective in Destiny (if so, I would love to learn).

          • September 26, 2016 at 9:23 am

Yes, they are cropped and zoomed. It makes them less high def, but I didn’t know how else to do it. I used a capture card, but you could probably also just use the “Xbox Take Screenshot” command and download the screenshot from <

That ground pound clip was really cool! If I had the time to note when I made my clips to go back and refilm in theatre I would.. Maybe when I get some time Ill try incorporate that into a video. Thanks for sharing.

Hey, a possible solution to this is to also have Xbox take a screenshot or a clip using the Xbox DVR function, then you will have a timestamp. I’m not sure if it shows the date on the Xbox One, but if you don’t rename the clip it shows the date on, which I love to use.

Happy and SplunksCo – I loved your assassination montage! And subscribed to your YouTube feed. I’m not usually a clip person but lately I have more interest.

I took the “3-second attention span” advice from chaos. I went into halo theater and made a bunch of clips playing with a friend of mine, then pulled a bunch of tiny moments together. I varied the speed of the clips a lot and worked on timing with the music.

I’m happy with how it turned out. Thank you both for the feedback. If you want to check it out, here’s a link:

Seriously, probably the best grifball montage ever (does anyone else make grifball montages?). Well, for sure the best one I’ve made.

          • November 5, 2016 at 9:48 am

Wow! Your editing skills have really jumped a few bars! Love your angles, how you mix up and have a variety of styles of clips in there, and how well you matched it with the music, really great and I can see you put a ton of work into it. Very artistic. Some really good clips in there, but I think you could easily quadruple the impact of your next montage by only using clips that are unique, amusing, or have some other impact in an interesting way. Most of the clips are what anyone might see if they go into a Grifball match. Loved the wall-running one, the assassination and a couple others that we’ve all seen, but somehow you captured them in a way that made them look new.

I’ve just finished my first Halo 5 montage, a FUNtage, and hopefully some of the clips can describe what I mean? Also, I found out why all of your comments have to be ok’d before they post. The site is set to only allow users registered and logged in to comment, so maybe you aren’t logged in when you do?

Here is that Funtage if you’d like to check it out:

This firefight splatter montage turned out better than expected imo. Let us know what you think of the cinematic take on the clips :)

    • July 29, 2016 at 8:18 am

I like the cinematic take! More close-up splatters would be fun. Maybe third person, as you rush alongside the hog? Idk. We should figure out a way for you to showcase your videos here.

      • July 29, 2016 at 9:20 pm

Thankyou! Thats a good idea with third person, I think our next cinematic take like this will be an oni hog/gauss montage, so ill see if I can incorporate that.
I have been feeling a little bad about spamming your submit content feed, id love to showcase here if youre happy with what I share :)

I would like to post this video montage that I made. It’s a montage of the more awesome things Master Chief has done, and I wanted to get it published before the Master Chief Collection is released.
